Description of the short courses
"3D modeling with gOcad ” (Lecturer: Prof. Helmut Schaeben & Dipl. Geol Peggy Melzer, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany)
The short course offers theoretical knowledge and realistic hands-on exercises and projects in 3d-geomodeling using the software gOcad. Previous experience with the software is not required. Fundamental concepts like the gOcad data model and the interpolation algorithm will be given in the theoretical part. The focal points are the introduction into the software gOcad and the modeling of 3d geological horizons and reservoir models using outcrop and well da

"Modeling insitu leaching of Uranium ” (Lecturer: Prof. Broder Merkel, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany)
Participants will be given an introductory lecture on modeling in situ leaching of Uranium. The main focus, however, is on exercises with both PHREEQC for Windows (and/or PHREEQCI) and WPHAST based on ready to go examples. Previous experience with the software is not required since the participants will only alter given input file and not develop them from scratch. The main issues are
1d reactive model of in situ leaching with PHREEQC (thermodynamic approach)
1d reactive model of in situ leaching PHREEQC (kinetic approach)
Implementation of the PHREEQC-Model in a 3d PHAST-Model (using WPHAST and ModelViewer)
