Why Geoscience at Freiberg?

Geosciences are an important part of science. Knowing the earth systems is mandatory to evaluate and controls problems like climate change, lack of resources, earth quakes, volcano eruptions and flood hazards. We target these problems. Applied geoscientists are partners in demand for water supply industry, agriculture, raw material supply and disposal in the entire world.

Our department is experiencing a strong acceleration of growth in both research and teaching activity as well as refurbishment of buildings and labs. Joining both competence and vision we are bridging west and east by personal cosiness and international flair.

Our teaching philosophy guarantee intensive support, plenty of field trips to the most spectacular outcrops in Germany (e.g. under ground in our research mine) and about the world. We will give you access to the front rim of geo research. We always intend to be a notch above.

Freiberg Geoscience is a particular department: a cordial community of people who like to work hard and intensive, celebrate events and work for our visions. Come to see us and experience it by your own. Recently we are preparing an international study course GEOSCIENE & GEOENGINEERING (M.Sc.). If you are interested in this course send us a mail.
