Environmental Geology
The sum of all features surrounding an organism is the environment.
Since geologists study the earth all of them supply information concerning environmental
geolgy. However the term environmental geology is usually restricted to the
geology as it relates the human activity. Environmental Geology is applied geology
and examines how the earth is affecting the human and wild life activities through
earthquakes, vulcanos, storms and other geo hazards and reverse how the human
race is polluting the earth. You may find the term "Earth System Science"
as well. Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology are subjects of Environmental
Geology. However, since they are covered with many other lectures at our universitiy,
these two items are not part of this lecture. The course is presented by Prof.
Broder Merkel (BM) and Prof. Jörg Schneider (JS). Lectures are given in
English. Schedule might be subject to change.
