Bolków seen from the Panorama Hotel, the site of the Assessment Field work shop and starting point of the field trips

Funded by a DFG grant and logistical support from the Czech Geological Survey, a group of 15 experts and students from Saxony, Poland and the Czech Republic carried out an assessment field work shop in June 14th to 18th, 2006 in Bolków, Poland, with field trips to Polish and Czech outcrops of Late Paleozoic volcanic and subvolcanic systems. The main goals of the workshop were i) to assess the data and knowledge that exists in the three countries on the volcanic and subvolcanic evolution of the area, and ii) to define a concise project outline divided into program steps and thematic topics. The Bolków workshop defined the title and the VENTS logo.
