1980 - 'Diplom' (MSc) in Geology at the TU-Berlin; topics of the Diplom thesis: stratigraphy, micropaleon­tology and tectonics of Cenozoic limestones in SE Spain

1982 - PhD. (TU-Berlin), topics: petrology and geochemistry of Mesozoic plutonites in N Chile

1986 – Habilitation (TU-Berlin), topics: stratigraphy, sedimentology, geochemistry and tectonics of Paleo­zoic volcanosedimentary successions in N Chile, regional geology of the Central Andes.

 

German is my mother tongue. I speak and read English and Spanish fluently.

1.1980 - 3.1989 and 10.1989 - 4.1990: Research associate in research projects focussed on the geology of the Central Andes, Institut für Geologie und Paläontologie of the Technische Universität Berlin, F.R. Germany

4.1989 - 9.1989: Lecturer at the Geologisches Institut of the Freie Universität, Berlin (temporal replacement of an associate professor)

6.1990 - 3.1991: Lecturer at the Geologisch-Paläontologisches Institut of the Karl-Ruprechts-Universität Heidelberg (temporal replacement of a full professor)

7.1992 - 6.1994: Research grant (German Research Foundation, DFG) at the Department of Geology, The University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas (USA)

7.1995 - 3.1998; 10.1999 – 3.2000: Heisenberg research fellow at the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam

4.1998 – 9.1999: Lecturer at the Free University of Berlin in replacement of a full professor.

Since 4.2000: Full Professor at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg
