--------------------------------------------------------------------- Troubleshooting graphics problems on Windows by switching to VGA mode --------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical note: 10122 Created: 04/09/96 by Brian Product: Netscape Navigator Operating system: Microsoft Windows If you are experiencing graphics problems with your copy of Netscape Navigator on Windows 3.1, 3.11, NT, or 95, then it may help to temporarily switch your monitor to standard 640x480 16-color mode. (You can reconfigure this in the control panels or in the Windows Setup program in your copy of Windows.) This is standard VGA mode, and Windows comes with a standard VGA driver that should work fine with any display. If the problems with Netscape Navigator go away after you switch your monitor back to VGA mode, then the problems you were seeing were probably the result of a buggy or outdated video driver for your video card. Contact the company who makes your video card to get a copy of the latest drivers for it. Problems that might be caused by buggy or outdated video drivers include: - Crashes as soon as you try to launch Netscape Navigator - Images not showing up correctly on your web pages - Crashes when you try to load images in Netscape Navigator - Graphics glitches or redrawing problems in the Navigator window ========================================================================
